Fall Atrium Retro Roundup
Indoors or out? The midcentury atrium is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee or read a book in the early evenings, particularly if you make it comfortable with the right furnishings. Photo by Jim Brown.

Now that the days are getting darker and the temperature a little less inviting, traditional upholds that we migrate indoors to enjoy the comfort of our cozy rooms. But if you’ve got a wonderful atrium in your midcentury abode, you don’t want to give up your home’s best feature for a good portion of the year. There may be a chill in the air, but with a few items to warm things up, you can continue to enjoy your favorite indoor/outdoor space. Check out these 8 fall atrium essentials and enjoy that crisp autumn air.

First thing’s first: You need a fire pit. Keep things nice and mod with the aptly named Modfire gas fireplace. It throws off a ton of heat and is customizable in a bunch of colors from tangerine (our favorite, naturally!) to avocado.

Big heavy furniture is a no-go for even the most spacious atrium. Keep things slick and easy on the eyes with this Griffith Metal Loveseat and snuggle up with your sweetheart by the fire.

No snuggling under the stars with your favorite hot toddy would be complete without a stylish throw to keep your legs warm. We love the color and pattern of this Cotton Cashmere Throw Blanket, which is extra soft, to boot.  CO1011A-GR-W1

Whether it’s for your latest paperback, a mug of something toasty or just a seasonal succulent display, a side table is a must. Light and available in four funkadelic colors to match your other pieces, this Retro Metal Side Table is the perfect fit for even the narrowest of fall atrium spaces.

When the weather starts getting bad, the little birdies in your neighborhood will be looking for a place to hide out. If you’re going to give them a place to hang, you might as well make it appealing for you, too! The color, roofline and stone details of this Midcentury Modern Birdhouse has us soaring.

As much as we love stones and concrete pavers, they aren’t exactly cozy. But that’s why they invented outdoor rugs, right? Specifically, this Retro Fit Brown rug with a pattern that totally screams fall funk.

With the sun setting earlier, don’t get caught in the dark! Make sure you have all the ambient light you need for reading or relaxing with the Light Outdoor Lantern from the Freemont collection.
