There’s no doubt about the influence Joseph Eichler and his homes had on the midcentury. From sleek flat roofs and A-frames to exposed beams and open atriums, the look of Eichler’s homes from the ’60s are coveted prizes for house-hunting modernists. And while many midcentury homeowners would like to call an Eichler “home,” there are a finite number of properties built between 1949 and 1966. And that’s where KUD Properties and the Desert Eichlers come in.

We sat down with Troy Kudlac, principal of KUD Properties, to discuss the inspiration behind the Desert Eichlers, the first Eichler homes built in 50 years.
